A wall of text is not a label. Ingredient Facts is.

Ingredient Facts is the licensed display standard for the ingredient statement: one recognizable panel that carries nesting, qualifiers, legal weight ordering and allergen declarations from the physical package to every product page, rendered identically everywhere the mark appears.

01 · The failure mode

The label is regulated. The product page is not.

21 CFR 101.4 governs what the package prints: descending order by weight, sub-ingredients in parentheses, qualifiers bound to their ingredient, allergens declared. The moment that statement is retyped, exported from a PIM or syndicated, it leaves the regulation’s reach, and the failures are consistent enough to classify.

Observed defect classes in syndicated ingredient data IF-SPEC Sheet 01
No.DefectAs displayedConsequence
01 Truncation …SOYBEAN AND/OR SU Sub-ingredients deleted mid-parenthesis, sometimes including allergens
02 Detached qualifier CONTAINS ROSEMARY EXTRACT “(To Protect Color)” orphaned or fused into a phantom ingredient
03 Typo ARTFICIAL → ARTIFICIAL One letter dropped in human entry, then syndicated as fact across every product page
04 Allergen drift CONTAINS: Inconsistent Bold on one site, plain on another, absent on a third, all for the same product

In every class above, the physical label was correct. The defect was introduced in display.

02 · The transformation

One statement, carried intact

A real statement, parsed from the flat string on pack into the standard panel. Keep scrolling.

Ingredients: Roasted Peanuts, Sugar, Vegetable Oil (Cottonseed, Soybean and Canola Oil), Salt. Contains: Peanuts.

The compound oil unpacks, each part takes its row, and the allergen callout finds its place at the top.

03 · What the mark guarantees

Nesting preserved

Compound ingredients keep their parenthetical contents. A nested oil blend never loses its closing parenthesis, or its oils.

Qualifiers attached

“Rosemary Extract (To Protect Color)” is one object in the data model, not two strings that can drift apart.

Order preserved

Descending weight order survives every export. Below the 2% line the panel says so, because there the law says order stops meaning anything.

Allergens, one way

The Contains line renders in the same position, at the same weight, on every panel. Absence is never inferred from silence.

Ingredient Facts mark

A panel carrying the mark is a guarantee: the data behind it was parsed and rendered to specification, never retyped by hand.

04 · How it works

For brands

Differentiation, and defects caught before shoppers see them.

01

License the mark. One agreement, one annual term.

02

Convert the catalog. Your existing statements are parsed into structured panels during onboarding, with no data re-entry.

03

Catch every error. Every rendering of your statements across retail listings is checked against the spec. All label errors are detected and delivered as reports, before shoppers find them.

04

Display the panel. The mark on pack and on every product page: a verified panel where competitors show a text blob.

For retailers & platforms

One trustworthy display across the whole catalog.

01

License at enterprise level. One agreement covering every SKU you display.

02

Drop in the embed. The licensed renderer draws the panel from your existing product data: one integration, every page.

03

Normalize at scale. Tens or hundreds of thousands of SKUs render consistently, regardless of which supplier sent the data.

04

Get compliance reports. Ingredient data that fails the spec anywhere in your catalog is flagged and delivered as reports, so defects get fixed at the source.

05 · Why a license

The mark is the product

Ingredient Facts is proprietary by design. The mark, the panel format and the technical specification are licensed together as one package, so the mark can only appear on a panel that was actually parsed and rendered to spec.

This is the model behind every certification mark shoppers already trust: the mark means something precisely because it cannot be self-applied. An open format anyone can imitate guarantees nothing; a licensed one is a claim someone stands behind.

The Ingredient Facts mark
